Why People Pleasing is Draining Your Energy - ep. 136

Season #4

Years ago, if you would have asked me if I was a people pleaser…I would have told you:

“Absolutely NOT!” 👎

I didn’t have a clue that I was a people pleaser.

Because according to my own definition, I thought a people pleaser was simply someone who went out of their way to help people.

📣 It wasn’t until a mentor of mine pointed it out, that I even realized what I was doing –

I would often bend over backwards to make sure OTHER PEOPLE felt good…because I didn’t like it when everyone else got upset.

And while I was annoyed that she had “called me out” – I realized it was true!
People pleasing is like giving away your power, one YES at a time, to an invisible guilt monster.

So why do we do it?

To be blunt: Fear of rejection. The need for approval. And a belief that our worth is measured by how much we do for others.

The challenge? – it can affect all areas of your life.
